Twice this week while we were handing out flyers for english class our investigator walked by and started helping us out! He did it for 10 years for his job and it really showed. He literally could make anyone take a flyer lol I didn't know there was so much technique involved but I learned a few tricks haha. Afterwards he even bought us lunch!

Elder Yamashita from the area presidency visited our mission and we had an awesome zone conference. One thing I liked that he emphasized was hugging members and investigators in order to show them love! I'm gonna do my best to apply that because Japanese people are usually shy and they love getting hugs from big gaijin haha! Also, I played a musical number which was a bit scary and I had my fair share of mess ups but it went okay.

This week we had appointments/plans with 7 people and 6 canceled...:/ That was really frustrating but we rescheduled most of them so pray that we don't get canceled on more お願いします!Due to canceled appointments and more finding time we were able to find a really cool old guy while knocking doors. We followed up with him yesterday and he had read the intro and testimonies in the BoM 3 times! We hope he will feel the power of the Book of Mormon!

Yesterday during church 2 members gave really good talks in sacrament. They both spoke about the Book of Mormon and its role in their conversions. I was able to focus and understand everything they said which was awesome! The spirit was definitely there. No matter how you are converted to the gospel at some point the Book of Mormon is really the most important part of that conversion. If it's not true, the church isn't true! Everyone read the Book of Mormon!!
Love you all!

Week 44 - 06/17/18 - Pictures

Week 44 - 06/17/18 - Group Email

Currently it is tsuyu (rainy season) in Japan so this past week it rained pretty much everyday but the temp has been wonderful. I don't like rain but I also don't like hot so it's worth the compromise haha. This week really nothing too exciting happened. While walking home one day an old man yelled at us across the street and said "go back to your country!!" plus some other stuff that I didn't understand lol so that was weird because that doesn't really happen here. Also one of our investigators told us some very personal and deep information that caught me off guard. Hopefully we can help him figure everything out, kinda crazy though that as missionaries people come to us for advice on big life problems. I don't feel qualified at all to help him but I guess through the Lord I can!

Yesterday after church a bunch of members and the missionaries drove to an area and visited a bunch of less actives. It was awesome to see the members get excited about missionary work and helping others! Atsugi ward is awesome! This past week I starting the Book of Mormon from the beginning again with the focus of missionary work. So as I read I will only highlight and search for things that pertain for missionary work. I'm excited and have already found quite a few awesome things!
Hope ya'll are enjoying summer where ever you are!!
Love you all!

Week 43 - Pictures - 06/10/18

Week 43 - 06/10/18 - Group Email

I got a new companion this week, his name is Elder Campbell and he's from West Jordan Utah! He has been in the mission for less time than me so I'm the senior comp! Every comp I have had so far has been almost a year older than me in the mission and I've been able to count on them for everything but now it's up to me. My new comp doesn't have the greatest Japanese which is a blessing in disguise because it will force me to speak more haha. During two of our lessons this past week he fell asleep in the lesson... Not sure how but it was pretty funny.

Today we went to Costco for Pday and ate some nice pizza and cake. Costco pizza is literally a dream here in Japan!

Well I really don't have much else to say, it was a pretty normal week. We've been having lots of lessons this week which has been fun! It's entering rainy season here and is gonna get super hot and humid soon so everyone please pray for me onegaishimasu!!

Week 42 - 06/03/18 - Pictures

Week 42 - 06/03/18 - Group Email

Last pday we went to Yokohama and did some sightseeing! We went to China town, Yamashita park, the landmark tower, pokemon center and a few other places. It was a good time! I hope I get to serve there sometime soon because the big city is really cool. On the way there we happened to get on the same train as a less active member who happened to take the train that day instead of walking. Pretty cool how things happen!

While I was handing out fliers one day a kid passed that was wearing a BYU shirt!! I stopped him and asked why he was wearing it and he said he did a homestay in Utah when he was in elementary school. Pretty crazy!

In the past couple weeks we have been finding lots of college aged students and quite a few have become new investigators. It's been really fun teaching kids that are close to the same age as me and we have been able to become really tight with them! I love Japanese college kids and am so down to study abroad here after my mission!

We did a big zone blitz this week in Shonan which is my last area so it was fun to dendo again back there! A few members came as well so it was fun to catch up and see them again. Kinda crazy that I left that area almost 3 months ago.

This week I finished the Book of Mormon for the 3rd time since I have been a missionary! Each time I read it my understanding increasing and I really feel like it is a book from God. There really is value in the Book of Mormon and I recommend you all go read it! My favorite verse is still Mosiah 2:41 It's 🔥🔥
"And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it."
