Week 20 - 12/31/17 - Group Email

Happy new year!
For Christmas we didn't do anything too exciting. On Tuesday I was able to skype my family though and that was honestly so much fun! It was the fastest 40 minutes of my life, it went way too fast! We were able to finally have a lesson with our main investigator Tazaki san after almost a month which was great. Unfortunately he can't meet again till the 20th sooo that's a bummer. Last night we had a lesson with one of our spanish speaking investigators named Pablo. He didn't keep any of the last commitments we extended him but hopefully he will start to progress more.

I was able to finish the Book of Mormon for the second time since being out which was awesome! The Book of Mormon is a solid book and I would recommend everyone read it if you haven't! On Friday and Saturday we had designated cleaning days for our apartment. The Japanese tradition is to deep clean your home during the new year.
On Saturday morning, us and the sisters went with some members to watch the sunrise from a big hill in our area. We had Mt. Fuji on one side and the ocean on the other. It was really pretty! After that we went to the church and made oshiruko which is anko(sweet red bean paste) and Mochi(pounded rice) It was soo tasty!

Some funny stories from the week: On Tuesday night we started talking to a guy on the street on our way home that was from Pakistan and spoke fairly good english. The second we said we are missionaries he just started yelling "I have Jesus in my pocket!" over and over again and would just laugh way loud haha it was really weird. He then preceded to take his wallet out and show us the picture of Jesus he had in it. He said even though he is Muslim he always carries a picture of Jesus around in his wallet and gets more money because of it lol. We think he might have been a little drunk or something but it was pretty funny. He wasn't interested in learning more sadly. Another weird sleeping experience happend  this past week. I woke up and I was touching my comp's foot... I thought his foot was a little animal that kept moving when I would touch it and it was so scary! I asked him if he remembered in the morning and he did lol we had a good laugh.
I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season and has a good new year!

愛しているよ!
